California Cottage

Few raw parcels of land still remain un-built in the City of San Luis Obispo. Located in close proximity to downtown, with a stunning view of Cerro San Luis this unique site is now home to a classic California Cottage abode that we designed in cooperation with some wonderful long time Central Coast residents.
With a grade change of 20+ feet from street level, providing vehicular access to both the upper and lower levels of the house was an initial challenge, coupled with other unique site constraints. The parcel contains an unbuildable open space easement on the east side, which provides a serene buffer of natural vegetation and privacy, seldom found within the city limits.
Clad in sage colored painted lap siding, white trim, and gable end details, offset with the contrast of the black framed windows and doors, this residence successfully marries traditional bungalow characteristics with modern elements. A large greatroom space is flanked by covered porches to the east and west sides, allowing for intimate outdoor living spaces that can be enjoyed in the early sun of the morning and sunset alike. Alongside the main residence sits a quaint detached workshop/garage, mimicking the style of its larger counterpart. Scheduled to be completed in 2024, we're excited to see this residence come to life!
